Finding inspiration in the unique and important aviation heritage of Glendale, CA, the AvroKO team focused on the luxurious aspects of travel’s golden age. Design elements include a wall of hand-selected vintage “souvenir” spoons located behind the reception desk, AvroKO-designed light fixtures designed in the spirit of airplane propellers, a triangular marble flooring pattern and custom metal screens inspired by the mechanics of bi-plane wing structures, coat check wardrobe resembling luxury travel trunks, an art feature of 30,000 vintage postcards bundled with leather straps, and custom pendant lighting in the private dining room using actual aircraft runway lighting components.

  • "Celebrity chef Michael Mina’s new Bourbon Steak seems to be full of contradictions: gourmet food in a mall, both classic dishes and contemporary inventions share a menu, and the sleek, modern interior was inspired by the bygone golden age of aviation. Luckily, these seemingly paradoxical elements work together marvelously."

  • "Created by award-winning design firm, AvroKO, the 7,000 square-foot, 182 seat restaurant mixes glamorous elegance and old-world charm, composed of dark, luxurious leathers and natural rosewood and marble tabletops. "
