Like Frank Lloyd Wright, Donald Judd, and Michael Heizer, who have all been inspired by the Southwestern landscape, our team made a foray into desert design with Bourbon Steak Scottsdale, which looks to the American Arts and Crafts movement and minimalism as precedents. While recognizing that the Southwest is a culturally and topographically distinct part of the United States, Bourbon Steak invokes a brand of regionalism that transcends any single period of time, acting as a kind of structural pastiche of local tradition, architectural legend, and art historical paradigm.
