Nestled in the basement of Zengo in Midtown New York, this sultry tequila lounge by acclaimed Mexican Chef Richard Sandoval features over 400 brands; the works of famed haciendas, small batch distillers and artisanal producers alike. Blue agave-based spirits from Tequila are listed alongside mezcals and sotols from Oaxaca, Durango and beyond. Equally as unique as its surroundings, La Biblioteca also boasts the only tequila librarian in New York City. Guests can purchase their own bottles of rarefied agave and keep it safely stored in their own tequila locker for civilized sipping or festive shooting, should the occasion arise.

  • "La Biblioteca feels like the sitting room of a wealthy Spanish miser who spent years hoarding over 400 types of tequila—the walls and ceiling are black, the room is lit by dim golden lights, Persian rugs are strewn about, and the main chamber is lined with giant, tufted black sofas and old Mexican chairs covered in red velvet."
