About

The Perry Lane Hotel, a Luxury Collection property, provides a much-sought-after luxury hotel experience in Savannah, Georgia, where sophistication and vibrancy are brought to locals and visitors alike.

We looked to Savannah’s history and culture to devise a scheme that was relatable and relevant to its location while at the same time modern and appealing to the contemporary traveler. Savannah is known as the “Hostess City,” which inspired a design focused on the art of welcoming guests into one’s home. A sequence of experiences escorts the guest from the street into the hotel. Once inside, the hotel layout deploys an “internal streetscape” based on the city of Savannah’s unique urban plan where everything is situated around town squares. Historically, the idea of community meant that everyone in the square contributed something – one home provided milk, another did all the mending, and so on. First floor public spaces read like a collection of related buildings, defining inner yards and the edges of alleys. From the lounge and library to the screening room and bar, an intimacy of scale enforces a spirit of camaraderie and surprise.

Internal Streetscapes

The overall ground floor layout strategically deploys an internal streetscape, based on the city’s unique urban plan where everything is situated around town squares. Spaces read like a collection of related buildings, defining inner yards and the edges of alleys.

Arrival and check-in at the Perry Lane Hotel is reminiscent of walking through the front porch of one’s Savannah home. Millwork vitrines anchor the check-in desks lined in a burlap-like deep indigo wallpaper, inspired by Savannah’s history of trading massive amounts of indigo via its ports. Minimalistic, whitewash wood panels are the backdrop to rhythmic walnut-portal openings. Wood blinds break free to surprise lounge groupings outside on checkered graphic floors. A smart layering of greenery, nautical string-back loungers, sisal-inspired area rugs, and palm-blade fans are all innuendos to Savannah’s coastal piedmont and lushness on full display.

Artful Living

Just off the main lobby, a series of salons and lounges reflect a bright and eclectic lifestyle. Over 8,000 unique artworks were curated for the entire hotel, the majority of which were from faculty, students and/or alumni of The Savanna College of Art and Design (SCAD). This revered art school plays a significant role in the life of the city. It felt only natural to support and celebrate the creative minds that have sprung from its respected wellspring.

Peacock of the Party

Split between two rooms, the lounge and library capitalize on southern architectural remnants of a reclaimed Savannah mansion with a marble fireplace, velvet-upholstered seating groups, and soft nude walls. A custom bar cart operates as the hostess of the room, tailored with shagreen-textured leather upholstery and walnut along with nickel detailing. Beyond the tucked away pass-through doors lies the lounge, equipped with versatile means to create your own intimate gathering. The moodier of the two rooms, the library is fitted out with deep teal walls, vintage antique rugs, and baby grand piano, as opposed to the library’s lighter palette. The bold colors and vibrant combinations echo the savoir faire of those illustrious party goers of Savannah’s social lore; true peacocks of the party.

Guest rooms have their own regional classical vernacular that was inspired by the great mansions of Savannah — palatial in scale, rich in detail.

The Bath

The bathrooms exercise a touch of feminine glamour with opaline glass ribbed sconces, elegantly tapered mirrors, and luxurious marble showers, each with a monolithic black marble stool. Gentle curves in the vanities add an additional soft touch, accentuating the gentle ease of southern living.
