About
As one of the last living examples of the Czech Art Nouveau period, AvroKO strove to pay homage to the architecture era that defines one of the city’s most iconic hospitality landmarks.
Located in Wenceslas Square in the heart of Prague, the Grand Hotel Evropa is a landmark that has seen the city through many pivotal political and historical moments. Originally built in 1872 by Archduke Stephen under a different name, it never found its final form until the early 20th century when it emerged as the Art Nouveau wonder that still exists today. Over the years, it changed hands and was renamed, but it nonetheless became known as one of the most prestigious and lauded hotels in Europe. In 1951, the communist party in Czechoslovakia nationalized the property and it fell into disrepair. But even during that time, it remained a point of pride for Prague citizens. After decades and the fall of communism following the Velvet Revolution in 1989, the property was restituted and eventually acquired and renovated.

A Celebration of Art Nouveau
Throughout the project, the use of rhythmic and sinuous lines were implemented - as a nod to nature’s unruly way - and honor the building’s Art Nouveau envelope while also guiding it toward present-day modernity, allowing it to be ever-so-slightly released from the past.

Myriad F&B Option Abound
Occulto boasts original heritage timber paneling and painted murals meet the newly fitted jewel box-like bar and pendants above that span the width of the room. The combination is a harmonious synergy of the past and the new.

W Lounge
An all-day lounge and dining space, the beautiful nooks and corners were designed to sink into for leisurely weekend brunches, business meetings, aperitivo hour, and cozy nightcaps at night. The central bar with beautifully fluted columns is a glowing visual spectacle from all corners of the room. Warmly lit fireplaces and carefully crafted lounge zones create the perfect ambience for socializing. Soft tones of blue, greens, and terracotta drape the eclectic and elegant collection of furniture pieces.

The heart of the hotel.
A Suite Experience
AvroKO's take on the suites give each their own personality. All of them lean into the Fantastical Garden concept pillar with a mixture of materials, pattern and color. Still clean and modern, nuance remains with tremendous curving lines throughout, paying homage again to Art Nouveau. There is also a mixture of prints that define the furniture and floor coverings, which give some contrasting play to the signature green throughout. Pops of gold and custom brass inlays throughout the space bring it all together.

Leaning into its Art Nouveau roots, each element adds its own touch.
